Buenos Aires

Hi again everyone
I think I last wrote from Montevideo in Uruguay. We left there and spent one night in a gorgeous tourist place called Colonia (unfortunately tourist prices). We had a braai on the beach and then a bit of a party. We had to be up to catch the ferry at 3am so some people partied till then, some people slept on a tarpaulin under the stars and Baz and I decided to try out our new hamock. Good idea but practicallity very difficult especially with someone who wriggles as much as Baz. Anyway, 3 attempts to get and stay in, and about an hour after going to bed we finally managed to get some sleep. We arrived in BA which is a gorgeous city (even Baz and I the country bumpkins like it). We went straight to the Chile Embassy to put in my visa application. It did not go smoothly and we had to keep returning with new info etc. Eventually they spoke to the consular and accepted my application (after spending the first 3 mornings in the embassy). Unfortunately it was a public holiday on Fri and they would not process my visa till monday. The truck left on Sat without me. Baz was really good and sat with me in the embassy the whole time but he's gone off on the truck so he can video some killer whales and seals etc in Patagonia for me. Luckily for me, the truck will only be stopping off at one place and the rest of the time they will be driving to Ushaia (the most southern city in the world, where all the boats leave from to go to the Antartica.) Baz has 5 days of driving and I have a 4 hr flight to get there, not a bad sacrifice. The truck only arrives on Thur so that buys me a few days to get my visa sorted. I am gonna try apply for my Bolivia visa after I collect my Chile visa tomorrow if i can. My flight is booked for Wed but I can change it if need be. Wat a pain!!!!!! Baz and I got to do most the tourist sites in BA, even got to see a tango show, and I even got a dance, twice!!!
A few guys from our tour decided to stay in BA for a few days and fly down cause they weren't so keen on the long drive so I am not alone just yet. Unfortunately they stayed in BA to shop or party. They get in when the sun comes up then go to bed till lunch. Not exactly what I feel like, so I've been exploring the markets and getting a bit of sleep and pampering (facials are so cheap out here). I feel human again, the first time in ages so not such a bad thing.
Well, must end off. Take care and keep in touch.
Lots of love
Jen and Baz
